Be A Giver Not A Taker

Early in my life I had the unfortunate experience of having my mother TAKEN away from me on more than one occasion. I have also experienced pieces of my life being TAKEN at the hands of TAKERS. Takers never give they only take. I should say that again, takers never give they only TAKE. Are you a taker or a giver? It's important to know who you are and how to identify others who you allow in your space and in your life.

For years as a result of so many people and things being taken away from me, I found myself being a TAKER and rightfully so. "Hurt people hurt people right?" I didn't know any better at the time. We learn by the examples placed in front of us and by life experiences so in actuality I wasn't wrong. Well at least until I realized the truth of my ways. Once I began to understand the principals of the sower and the reaper and seed time and harvest, I began to change. However, I became an extremist. Rather than take, I gave compulsively of my time, my talent, my money and my life until I lost myself. I'd look up and one day I would be empty and often times bitter. Who was I bitter with? Myself, for allowing myself to become so wrapped up in the lives and affairs of others that I lost me and my vision. TAKERS can only exist when there are individuals to TAKE from. TAKERS, never give. They always TAKE. There only agenda is the WIFM, what's in it for me. They rarely come to give with no strings attached. It's imperative that GIVERS learn to set boundaries. That they learn to listen to their internal voice to discern when someone has come to TAKE or to GIVE. In that moment you must decide if you want to GIVE, how much you want to give and when you want to give. Givers are in control. God does not give seed to the sewer and demand that they give it away, it's a choice. The love in your heart given by him alone influences you to want to give, however, you determine the rest through consultation of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit provides the perfect balance needed. Are you a giver or a taker?

This post was inspired by a conversation with my SistaKeeper Tracie Berry-McGhee. Who always keeps me grounded.

Not only are takers selfish, they take so much until they began to think someone owes them something, takers take so much they don't even say THANK YOU. That's why it is so important to discern and sow when the HOLY Spirit says sow, intstead of being emotinally lead. This gets people in trouble all the time. Another trait of a taker is they always want others to do it for them. Mary kay always says never do something for someone that they can do for themselves. I encourage people to raise their level of thinking, believe and receive.

Wassup Chi, way to share that wisdom. You're absolutely right, if we are to fulfill the calling that the Lord has put on each of our lives', then its absolutely critical that we understand who we surround ourselves with on a day to day basis.

On the flip side, I like what you said about how God's love encourages us to give. It sort of reminds me of Corinthians 13:4-8 where Paul talks about love and how love is patient and does not keep a record of wrongs.
